One thing to notice is that happiness comes through holiness to the godly man.  The fruit we bear gets better as we mature and learn to depend on God’s righteousness. We cannot boast in the fruit we bear, because we had no part in producing it.  We bear it as the Holy Spirit works through us to produce it. This is such a freeing thought.  Our efforts do not produce fruit, we have to quiet our busyness and allow the Holy Spirit to control us.  This is not to say we become idle, but we follow the Holy Spirit’s leading.

There is no doubt that if the fruit we bear is in small amounts, those fruits do not satisfy anyone. We cannot bear any fruit apart from Christ, but we are all chosen to bear fruit.  The fruit of righteousness abounding in us demonstrates that God is working in us.  The power of God is shown through the grace of God in the hearts of believers.

Discipline yields the fruit of righteousness and is for our spiritual good. The fruit of righteousness is an outgrowth of righteousness of the heart produced by Christ.  It is external evidence of what is produced by the Holy Spirit

All fruit comes from the grafting into the Vine at the moment of salvation.  The best fruit is nourished and watered.

Fruit never comes first.  The fruit of righteousness is the result of a close relationship and walk with Jesus. Again, Andrew Murray said that the one condition of my abiding and growing is that I bear the fruit of the Heavenly Vine for dying men to eat and live.
