Fruit of the Light

 Fruit of the Light

Fruit of the Light is once again tied to being grafted into the Vine.  When Jesus says that He is the Light of the World, He is talking about shining light into the dark places of the world—especially in our souls.  We cannot walk in darkness if we have light within us to guide us.

The teaching for this lesson can be found here.

How Can I Apply This

Fruit of the Light is found in all that is good and right and true

· By discerning what is pleasing to the Lord enables us to walk worthy of the Lord (Ephesians 4:1)

· Exposing the fruit of darkness, we can see sin as sin and as a breach of God’s Holy law

· If we share in the sins of others, we share their plagues

Philippians 4:8-9

Do what you have learned and focus on those things that honor God?  Whether men praise you for your actions is immaterial—God will honor you.  Our focus should be on our relationship with God as the priority over everything else.

The more we love God, the better we are able to discern His voice and His will. To love God is to know Him.  Knowing Him makes His voice easier to hear over the cacophony of all the other voices in the world.

Isaiah 26:3

Discernment is

· Seeing through God’s eyes

· Examining ourselves

· Knowing whether we are growing closer or farther away from God

· Finding joy and peace from being close to God

· Taking action after weighing the consequences

Godly discernment brings

· Freedom and allows us to embrace God’s desires for us

· Peace that lets us sense calm when we trust in God in the midst of turmoil

· Joy in knowing we are living in alignment with God’s desires for our lives

· Authenticity for us to live consistently with our values and beliefs

· Gratitude in awareness of God’s love and generosity

Matthew 5:14-16

When we understand that light illuminates the darkness around us, we should not hide our light.  The light within us glorifies God through those who see our light.  We begin to see things the way God sees them and then we respond the way He does. We see sin as the darkness it is and turn from it, confessing it to God. Our light becomes brighter the closer we are to God.

Imagine with me, being grafted into a Vine that shines into the remotest and darkest areas of our lives.  We start to shine with the love of Christ that is growing the fruit we bear.

Remember that pinky toes are for finding furniture in the dark.
