Fruit of the Lips
Fruit of the Lips
Teaching found here.
Using our
words in the right way honors Christ and gains us inner peace. The goal is to be so consistently abiding in
Christ that our words and actions are considered good before God. Words either
justify or condemn. Words from the heart
can defile or bless.
We encourage
and warn believers by our conversation.
We need to make sure our words build up and give grace.

We cannot
offer God anything except what He pleases to teach us. Our sacrifice of praise acknowledges God’s
name. God will lead us to speak peace.
There are
three fruits our words can bear
· Green or ripe
o
Green is
unwholesome talk—A persimmon tree bears fruit that is so sour when it is green,
it dries the mouth so fully, the eater cannot talk.
o
Ripe is helpful
to build up and encourage others.
· Sweet or Rotten
o
Sweet words
encourage
o
Rotten words are
self-centered and complaining
o
We need to taste
our words before we say them.
· Seasonal or Continual
o
Planting
o
Nurturing
o
Harvesting
o
Or Everbearing as
a lifestyle
Words are gate-openers. The gate of praise allows God to come in and
bring life. The gate of evil allows Satan to take one more thing from us—a
peaceful testimony.
A truly satisfied person speaks the
right things and speaks the Word of God into our own lives and into the lives
of others.
Unsatisfied people speak death and do
not line their words up with the Word of God.
Words have the power to bring peace
and healing to a fruitful, satisfied life.
Fruit Bearing:
1.
is an expression
of Christ in us
2.
is evidence of
discipleship
3.
blesses others
